Please review this email, your applicable recall letter, and the following video for a complete understanding of this recall.
How to determine if you are affected.
This affects customers with the standard Propane Quick Disconnect manufactured from July 2021 - March 2022.
Although this is unlikely, trailers built after March 2022 may be affected.
You'll need to inspect the Propane Quick Connect on your unit to see if your trailer is affected.
First, inspect the collar on the front of the quick connect. Look for the PART NUMBER along the front edge, if the part reads 76290W you may be affected. However, you will also need to check the date of manufacture.
To find the date of manufacture, check the rear brass hex where the unit connects to the propane line. IF THE DATE CODE ON THE BRASS HEX READS ANY OF “21-XX” (where X is any number) up to “22-10” – THIS IS A RECALLED QUICK DISCONNECT AND REMEDY IS REQUIRED.
If you don’t see a 21-XX to 22-10 on the hex, then your quick connect is not recalled and you can disregard this communication.
We have sent this communication to more customers than there are recalled units to ensure we reach everyone. If your quick connect does not meet the above criteria, please disregard this message.
Why is the Propane Quick Connect being recalled?
Certain propane female brass quick-disconnects may have a defect in the brass causing the female component to crack, which may result in a low pressure leak on the outside of the RV. The defect is due to porosity, contamination and carbon in the brass. These were installed on Escape RV travel trailers from approximately July 2021-March 2022.
There is the potential threat of propane leaking from a crack that could develop in the female quick disconnect. A propane leak in the presence of an ignition source could cause a fire outside the vehicle; however, the low pressure in the hose makes the actual risk of fire from this issue very low.
What you need to do for a replacement from Enerco.
Enerco will send a replacement Quick Connect directly to you for installation by a licenced professional/repair shop.
The replacement Quick Connect does not have the defects seen in the recall unit and is the functionally identical, albeit with a thicker brass hex (this does not affect the function of the component).
